Hualong One Reactor Breaks New Record in Fuqing

Fuqing nuclear power plant in Fujian province, world's first demonstrative project applying Hualong One technology, passed an acceptance inspection for its external nuclear detector at the fifth unit.

The external nuclear detector, developed by China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), marked a technological breakthrough in the research of the third-generation external nuclear detector, breaking foreign technology monopoly.

Experts from institutions and companies such as Nuclear Power Institute of China and China Nuclear Power Engineer Co., Ltd. participated in the product test on the spot.

China Nuclear Control System Engineering Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned company of CNNC, has a longstanding history in nuclear measurement technology research.

The company, having experience in running over 30 nuclear reactors, is the only one in China owning design and production license for nuclear detectors.

External nuclear detector, installed outside of the reactor pressure vessel (RPV), monitors the flux rate in reactor and provides information of the reactor in different processes for operators.
