Three China-made dams in Sudan, namely Merowe Dam, Roseires Dam and the Dam Complex of Upper Athara Project are now shown on the nation's 100 pound denomination banknote. This is a special Chinese New Year's present for the dams' contractor, Sudan branch of SINOHYDRO Cooperation, a subsidiary of China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG).

The three dams are located along the Nile River, the nation's mother river. They are all major comprehensive pivots crucial to Sudan's economy and its people's livelihoods. The three dams' installed capacity provides 95 percent of hydropower nationwide and 60 percent of all the country's installed capacity, which contributes greatly to Sudan's economic development and social stability.

The new banknotes printed with the dams' images reflect the great expectation of Sudan's government and people of the dams and their importance in the country.

The overseas business of CTG has spread to more than 40 countries and regions and involves over 80 projects including energy investment, power station management and operation, contracts of construction in process and contracts of Engineering Procurement Construction. From Africa to Asia, CTG has established a great many influential and landmark infrastructure projects.

In 2015, the Guinean Franc depicted engineering drawings of the Kaleta Hydroelectric Project and became a symbol of China-Guinea friendship.

Some hydropower stations carried out by CTG in various countries are known locally as "CTG construction projects", and their successful completion and presentation on local banknotes boosts China's hydropower industry going global at a higher level.
