Xiao Yaqing, Chairman of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), met with Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF), in Sinopec Group on Dec 17.
Xiao said that the important speeches made by President Xi Jinping at this year's APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting and the G20 Summit have further pointed out the direction for Chinese central state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to promote reform and opening-up in the new era.
Xiao noted that over the past 40 years of reform and opening-up, the central SOEs, adhering to the principle of consultation and collaboration for shared benefits, expanded cooperation with enterprises from all over the world, provided more opportunities for their partners by developing themselves, and contributed to the construction of an open world economy.
The WEF has become more attractive and influential to SOEs, he said, adding that central SOEs have shown a good image, expressed their desire for cooperation and expanded cooperation through the forum.
He said he hopes that the forum will continue to be a platform helping central SOEs to deepen market-oriented reform, expand high-level open cooperation and become world-class enterprises.
Schwab outlined the general background of the WEF annual meeting next year and said he believes that the international community will embrace an open and cooperative world in the future.
The WEF will carry on President Xi's proposal made in his keynote speech at 2017 WEF Annual Meeting and will serve as a better bridge that offers more effective dialogue channels and more extensive communication platforms for Chinese central SOEs and enterprises from all over the world to jointly tackle challenges, seize opportunities and promote win-win cooperation, he added.
Before the meeting, Schwab visited Sinopec's production dispatch command center and the exhibition hall of Epec, the enterprise's e-commerce platform for industrial and energy products.
