Sinopec’s sanitation workers’ stations fulfill SDGs

Updated: 2018-12-17

The program of "sanitation workers' stations" launched by China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec) won a best practice award at the 2018 China Business Summit on Achieving SDGs held on Dec 7 in Beijing.

"Sanitation workers' stations" is regarded as a model fulfilling enterprises' public welfare and social responsibilities as well as sustainable development goals.

The program started in September 2016. It is based on petrol stations where Sinopec makes rooms welcoming sanitation workers to have a break and provides them with water, lockers, air-conditioning, microwave ovens and other basic services.

The first session of the program set 171 such stations and accommodated 18000 sanitation workers. In 2018, 100 more such stations were built in Jiangsu province and as of Sep 30 they were up and running for city cleaners.
