Helge Aasen, a board member of ChemChina's subsidiary China National BlueStar Co, was recently honored with the "Friendship Award".

"Friendship Award" was established in 1991 by the Chinese government for foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions to the country's modern construction and opening-up development.

Prior the CEO of the Norway-based company Elkem, Aasen has proactively implemented BlueStar's development strategy through technology innovation and promotion to introduce overseas production and management technologies domestically after BlueStar's acquisition of Elkem in 2011.

Founded in 1904, Elkem is one of the time-honored companies in the Norwegian chemical industry and is one of the world's main suppliers of silicon-based materials which has more energy-saving production processes with advanced and simple technology, no pollution and low cost.

Since 2007, BlueStar has established a complete industrial layout based on silicon material and has built an intact silicon industry chain layout since the acquisition of Elkem.  The controlling system of Elkem's silicon metal production equipment has adopted silicon material from BuleStar's subsidiary - Lanzhou organic silicone, realizing a leapfrog development of the domestic silicon metal forging technology and has increased the management of domestic organic silicon to an international level.

In addition, Elkem has promoted the integration of BlueStar's organic silicon production company-Xinghuo and Lanzhou and completed IPO in March in the Oslo Stock Exchange in Norway, making Elkem the first Chinese company to be listed in Norway. BlueStar also becomes the world's top leader in the organic silicon industry.

The continued introduction of overseas advanced technology has also helped BuleStar's cultivation of talents of technology research and development, production and management and selling, the company said.

All of the achievements were made due to the hard work of the employees to realize the improvement of technologies, Aasen said.

"I believe, under the leadership of BlueStar, Elkem will achieve sustainable growth of the company's benefit through innovation technology and continuous improvement," he said.

The company will constantly strengthen the close cooperation with relevant parties to contribute to environmental protection and create a better future of sustainable development, Aasen said.
