[SOEs in the B&R projects] CSCEC-built exhibition complex project progressing well

Staff workers of China Construction Steel Structure Corporation, a subsidiary of China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) are braving the summer heat in Shenzhen to build the city’s major investment project -- Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center.

Located in north of Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport, the center covers 1.25 million square meters, equal to the size of five National Stadiums in Beijing.

It is a major project invested by the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee and Shenzhen Municipal Government, also a landmark in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Upon its completion, the center will facilitate the development of the Airport New City, along with the promotion of the air-rail transportation network and emerging industries like convention and exhibition, innovation and R & D, and international logistics.

Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center that is currently being built will have a floorage of 1.58 million sq m, it is a single architecture with the largest construction area in the world so far.

The construction project also set many world records in quantities of work, such as the consumption of steel products, volume of the earthwork and the use of hoisting machinery. It also boasts, both individually or in total, the largest exhibition hall, the largest and longest seamless reinforced concrete basement, the largest and longest metal roof in the world, and the first construction project in the world that integrates simultaneously the development and operation of subways, municipal roads and facilities, as well as water conservancy and river regulation.

The ribbon-shape image on the roof symbolizes the Maritime Silk Road. Upon its completion, the project will be the largest convention and exhibition center in the world and facilitate the development of Shenzhen, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

According to a recent plenary meeting of the leading group for the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the area was positioned as a new high-end platform for participating in international economic cooperation and an important supporting area for the docking of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.

It boasts advantages in location and resources, economic strength, links within cities in the region, transportation infrastructure, and regional cooperation systems.

Serving as an important window to display the city image, Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center will help deepen the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao cooperation and enhance the free flow of human resources, logistics, capital and information.

According to the constructor, the center will be built into a complex that promotes exhibition, convention, tourism, shopping and the service industry.
