Xiao Yaqing, Chairman of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), met on Sept 2 with a South African delegation led by Minister of Public Enterprises Pravin Gordhan who came to china for the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

Xiao introduced the achievements of China's reform of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and exchanged ideas with Gordhan on further strengthening communication and cooperation.
Xiao noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa reached an important consensus for further advancing the China-South Africa comprehensive strategic partnership in the New Era, which provides a foundation and direction for the two countries to carry out pragmatic cooperation in various fields.
SASAC has maintained friendly exchange and interaction with the Department of Public Enterprises of South Africa and progress has been made in various fields since their cooperation mechanism was launched in 2013, he added.
Xiao said SASAC would actively implement the consensus reached by the leaders of China and South Africa, taking the Beijing Summit as an opportunity to further enhance the exchange of experience, promote business cooperation between the two countries and contribute more to the comprehensive strategic partnership.
Gordhan said the SOEs of South Africa and China are an important force promoting national economic development and the achievements and experience gained in reform of Chinese SOEs offer crucial references to South Africa, adding that Department of Public Enterprises will keep learning from China and improving their SOEs' governance and efficiency to realize better and faster growth.
Peng Huagang, Deputy Secretary-general of SASAC, also attended the meeting.
