China National Chemical Engineering Group Co (CNCEC) signed engineering contracts worth 2.57 billion euros ($3.05 billion) with Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, at the closing ceremony of the Third Forum on China-Africa Local Government Cooperation in Beijing on May 8.

The contracts are for construction of a 50-km urban rail traffic system, a 47-km-long bi-directional eight-lane highway, long distance passenger and freight stations, a vocational school, hospitals and a residential community.

The local solid waste incineration power plant is to have an annual treatment capacity of 750,000 tons and annual power generation capacity of 320 million kilowatt-hours, providing 268 million kWh on grid.

The company will ensure construction quality and efficiency of these projects and seek more cooperation with African countries on chemical engineering, infrastructure facilities, environmental protection and industries, it said.

The projects will help boost the local economy and speed up the structural upgrading of its businesses.

CNCEC is the first Chinese enterprise engaged in overseas projects with international general engineering contracting and has projects in more than 50 countries and regions.

As an engineering firm with the most complete qualifications, business chains and extensive knowledge and technology in the field of industrial engineering, the company has made great achievements in overseas infrastructure construction and environmental protection.
